Inspire Me Thursday~Eco Art

Themes of eco art have been running through my weeks lately as it is, so the prompt from IMT is timely indeed for me. My camera is busted so I can only show you a couple of examples this road has been taking me. I have a pile of various things that I've been setting out to collage, and have predominantly been applying tissue paper too instead. (I think I've talked about that in a previous post) It is terribly exciting to me right now to consider every object that passes through my hands a possible piece of art. I think about whether it's suitable and how often I don't know so I just try it. A glass jar, a carton I have that a candle came in, an old jewelry box...

This first piece is a pencil cup that my husband made out of scrap pieces of wood he had in his shop. I set about decorating it with tissue paper. Some of the scraps of tissue I have are pieces saved out of a present, and I liked the design.

Here's a photo of all the sides scanned and put together into one photo:

The second piece is an old music box that I got from a freecycle exchange. I made some color copies (that turned out a bit yellowish from lack of ink) of some Old Maid cards I have and used various bits w/ it...including a scrap of handmade lace from a strange string I have of it that my grandma made. (Or my great grandma...anyway, it's old and doing nothing in my box of stuff so I used it.) The song it plays is "Through the Eyes of Love". (The theme song from the movie "Ice Castles" I might add.)

I love your attitude - I'm the same - everything can be used in art! I love these items you've made, especially the pencil cup!

Wow, I love the way you scanned all the sides and presented it that way. Wow. Oh. I already said that.
