Song For My Father

I ended up naming this painting "Song For My Father". You might notice that on the bottom of this blog I have one of those little doo hickey playlists that I have the song "Song For My Father"
by Horace Silver cued up. I would say the inspiration for the painting is my dad, and his love of jazz...I suppose. I remember thinking going into it at one point that I was going to concentrate on choosing colors that reminded me of his paintings in some way. Though he was much more fond of yellow ochre. The title seemed fitting in two ways. One is obvious. The second is that even though I have no recollection of my dad playing this particular song, (my husband turned me on to it, actually) I very particularly picked it out to be the song that I danced with my dad with at my wedding. And we did. My husband likes the painting in particular, and asked to keep it. So we have. I actually think he liked it before he ever heard the title. Which is saying something. Perhaps it is just the time of year...but I so miss my father...

I am seriously digging these paintings of yours! I just love how you are creating the impression of images inside images.
